Troopers initiated the stop at approximately 10:45 p.m. on Monday night, when Waterbury resident Robert McLean committed an alleged vehicle and traffic law violation on the interstate.
According to police, while being interviewed by the responding troopers, McLean allegedly displayed a fraudulent Mount Vernon Housing Police shield and a forged police identification card.
McLean was arrested at the scene and charged with a felony count of possession of a forged instrument and second-degree criminal impersonation, a misdemeanor. Following arraignment, McLean was remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $3,000 bond. He is due back in Patterson Justice Court on April 19 to answer the charges.
